So how much does a Thailand trip cost from India in 2026? For a comfortable seven-day trip, budget about ₹95,000 per person including return flights. A careful backpacker can do the same week for ₹50,000 to ₹67,000, while island resorts and private transfers push it past ₹1.8 lakh. A couple travelling mid-range spends about ₹1.58 lakh in total, not double.
That's a huge range for one country, and it isn't because Thailand is unpredictable. A handful of choices you make before you land decide which of those trips you end up on. This guide prices each one in rupees, so the number stops being scary.

Book three to six weeks out. Return economy from Delhi or Mumbai then costs ₹24,000 to ₹35,000, and a fare audit of the Delhi–Bangkok route put the median round trip at ₹28,400. Aggregator data suggests February is the cheapest month at around ₹20,050, while May is the priciest at roughly ₹29,356.
Book inside two weeks over Christmas or the Indian school summer break, and fares clear ₹32,000 without much effort. That's the most avoidable ₹8,000 in this entire guide.
Does it matter which Bangkok airport you land at?
More than the fare suggests. Low-cost carriers often use Don Mueang (DMK) instead of Suvarnabhumi (BKK). DMK sits further out and has thinner late-night transport.
Add checked baggage, seat selection and a long taxi at 1am, and a ₹2,000 fare saving can disappear before you reach your hotel.
Should you choose the islands or the north?
This is the biggest lever you have. Phuket and Koh Samui run 40 to 60 percent more expensive than Bangkok or Chiang Mai. Island logistics cost money, and island pricing knows you have few alternatives.

Which month are you travelling in?
On the Andaman coast, your travel month decides whether your activity budget gets spent at all. May to October is monsoon around Krabi, and boat tours to the outer islands are often cancelled at short notice. November to April brings calm seas and higher prices.

On a short trip, flights make up a bigger share of the total, so booking three to six weeks out matters even more. Bangkok works best as a single base for five days: the food, temples and day trips are all within reach by BTS or Grab.
Which small costs add up fastest?
Thailand rarely wrecks a budget with one big purchase. It happens in ฿150s and ฿300s: one extra transfer, one checked bag, one card swipe with a fee hiding inside it.
Here's what that looks like in practice. At Krabi airport, the shuttle to Ao Nang costs ฿150, while the taxi counter charges ฿1,200 or more for the same 40-minute road. Take the taxi both ways and you've spent about ₹6,000 extra. Add a 2.5 to 3 percent card conversion charge across the week, another ₹1,500 to ₹2,000, and you're near ₹8,000 before you've ordered a single beer.
- Transfers and ferries. Inter-island ferries run ฿200 to ฿300 each way, and island airport transfers are priced squarely at tourists. Check for a shuttle before you walk to the taxi counter.
- Baggage on budget airlines. Price the fare with your bag included, both for the international flight and the domestic hop.
- Card and ATM fees. ATMs charge a fixed fee per withdrawal, so take out larger amounts less often. Carry ฿3,000 to ฿5,000 in cash on arrival for stalls, markets and tuk-tuks, and check the cash limits on international flights from India before you pack it.
- Alcohol and Western food. An imported beer in a tourist bar can cost more than three street meals, and a flat white is ฿80 to ฿120 in the cities. Local Chang or Leo keeps the number sane.
Where is saving money not worth it?
Not every saving is a win. Some of them just move the cost from your wallet to your holiday.
The 1am Don Mueang arrival. If the cheaper fare lands you at DMK in the middle of the night, you pay for it in taxi fares and a lost first morning. On a seven-day trip, that morning is worth more than ₹2,000.
The overnight bus to Krabi. It costs ฿550 to ฿1,000 and takes 11 to 12 hours. On a long, slow trip, that's a fair trade. On a one-week holiday, the flight takes under an hour and a half and gives you back most of a day.

The cheapest island trip in monsoon season. If the boat days are why you're going, a low-season deal isn't a deal when the tours get cancelled. Spend a little more for November to April, or plan a week that doesn't depend on the sea.
Do Indians need a visa for Thailand in 2026?
No. Indian passport holders still get visa-free entry with no fee, but arrivals from 15 September 2026 can stay up to 30 days, down from 60. For a one- or two-week holiday, nothing about your budget changes.
The revised rules were published in the Royal Gazette on 31 August 2026. If you're entering overland from Laos, Cambodia or another neighbour, note that most visa-exempt travellers can now use land-border crossings only twice per calendar year. Air arrivals aren't limited the same way.

Does TCS apply to your Thailand trip?
If you book the trip yourself, probably not. Standalone international flight tickets attract no TCS. Under Budget 2026, bundled overseas tour packages carry a flat 2 percent from the first rupee. Forex card loads and other travel remittances are nil up to ₹10 lakh in a financial year.
So a ₹95,000 trip you book yourself has zero TCS. Book the same trip as a package and about ₹1,900 is collected upfront, which you can claim back when you file your income tax return.
Is there a tourist entry fee in Thailand right now?
No. Nothing is being collected as of September 2026. Thailand's National Tourism Policy Committee endorsed draft rules for a flat ฿450 fee on 14 August 2026. It replaces an older plan of ฿300 by air and ฿150 by land or sea that was never implemented.
The ฿450 proposal is open for public consultation until 28 September 2026. It then goes back to the committee, needs Cabinet approval and must be published in the Royal Gazette. The government is aiming to start collecting from air arrivals in the first quarter of 2027.
For a trip this year, budget nothing. For 2027, pencil in ฿450, about ₹1,280, and treat it as provisional.
